Executive Director

About this Job

Note: This volunteer position will begin in Spring of 2019 in an observational role to learn about the organization and how it works. After Spring of 2019, role will transition into full Executive Director position as described below:

The position is designed as a remote position, but you are free to work from home, library or coffee shop.  Weekly meetings will be used to discuss progress and plan strategies. This position will start as soon as possible and will serve initially as the Co-Executive Director of Wisconsin Microfinance, with the goal of taking over the job of Executive Director in May.  Wisconsin Microfinance is under the guidance of a board of directors, led by Tom Eggert, Senior Lecturer at UW Madison.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide program management and leadership
    • Responsible for day to day operations
    • Implement the strategic plan
    • Create and publish monthly newsletters
    • Run community outreach and donor engagement
    • Interview and hire interns
    • Oversee financial tracking systems and financial reporting
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies
    • Explore creative and effective ways to donors
    • Explore creative and effective ways to engage the broader Madison and Milwaukee communities
    • Host at least one major fundraiser each year
    • Develop partnership with a WI business
  • Raise the visibility of the Program
    • Identify opportunities for presentations on the program
    • Utilize social media daily to increase visibility
    • Manage the web site
    • Perform other work as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work effectively with little structure
  • Passionate about microfinance and the role that capital plays in changing the world
  • Resourceful and responsive
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (the ability to get people excited about this program)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal),
  • Detail-oriented
  • WordPress and internet savvy, or the ability to learn quickly
  • Social media savvy
  • Unafraid of numbers

Social Media and Marketing Intern

About this Job

Job Overview: Applicant will operate and personalize various social media and a weekly blog in order to define and promote the ideals of Wisconsin Microfinance. Wisconsin Microfinance is a student-run, Madison-based 501(c)(3) non-profit that uses microfinance and microloans to empower small business owners in impoverished countries. Position requires 5-10 hours of engagement per week, with bi-weekly meetings to discuss progress and plan strategies.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Manage and expand social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Create outreach strategy to help grow brand
  • Create and organize weekly blog posts
  • Run community outreach engagement
  • Market events to the Madison community
Qualifications:
  • Experience on multiple social media platforms
  • Ability to develop your own voice on social media
  • Passion for principles of microfinance
  • Self-directed and responsible
  • Positive, confident and engaging
